Indianapolis

Indianapolis is the 12th largest city in the nation and one of the safest. The cost of living is below the national average and the city remains unspoiled despite tremendous growth. Urban and suburban neighborhoods, as well as small towns and rural areas, can be found within a half hour drive of the center of the city. Excellent public and private schools, including a trilingual international school are found in the metropolitan Indianapolis area. The city has a growing international community. Cuisine from Afghanistan, Russia, various Chinese provinces, Mexico, Ethiopia, India, Pakistan, Japan, France, and many other countries is readily available as is great shopping. Opportunities for hiking, biking and other outdoors activities abound within the city.

A canal with pedal boats, jogging and bike paths snakes through downtown Indianapolis attracting recreation seekers and tourists. The canal is convenient to museums, shops, hotels, restaurants and a growing number of apartments and homes.

Indianapolis has a robust arts community with an internationally recognized orchestra, several outstanding museums of art, a growing number of art galleries and antique shops, and the world's largest children's museum. The city is also home to the NCAA Hall of Champions and two of the nation’s most exciting historical museums. Recreation facilities include Eagle Creek Park, the fourth largest city-owned park in the country, which boasts 1,400 acres of water for sailing, rowing and swimming and, 3,900 acres for dry land activities and the Monon Trail, a greenway for walking, jogging, biking or skateboarding which winds through the heart of the northside of Indianapolis and contiguous Carmel, linking commercial districts, neighborhoods, and parks. The Monon hooks up to White River Wapahani Trail to form a trail network that reaches to the west side of the downtown district, not far from IUPUI.

While perhaps best known for its auto racing, other attractions include a fine zoo and a botanical garden, and the Indiana Pacers and the Indianapolis Colts professional sports teams. And every year, the Indiana State Fair with its assortment of carnival rides, corn dogs and animal exhibits draws tens of thousands of visitors.
