Care, competence, compassion
Patient-provider communication is an essential part of healthcare. At Regenstrief, we recognize and seek to understand how physician communication skills impact the delivery and quality of patient care.
Our researchers explore how students’ poor communication and lapses in professionalism during medical school are associated with physician litigation or censure later on. In addition to professionalism , Regenstrief investigators and staff study how compassion, ethical reasoning, and other interpersonal skills can improve healthcare quality, efficiency, and patient outcomes.
