Precision medicine is a new and fascinating field of study and practice, combining prevention and treatment strategies. This field takes individual patient variables into account, including environmental factors, lifestyle, and even genetics. This emerging and revolutionary approach to care has the potential to greatly enrich the amount of data available on a single patient, and to leverage this data to improve quality of care and patient outcomes.
With the support of an award from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Regenstrief is at the forefront of this exciting field, particularly with the Precision Monitoring (PRIS-M) program. This program includes projects across multiple sites conducted by researcher clinicians at the Institute and with the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center. Research takes place in diverse care environments, including emergency, inpatient, and outpatient settings.
