Due to previous year’s high demand, virtual attendance option added

The Public Health Informatics Program in the Center for Biomedical Informatics at Regenstrief Institute will host “Progress on Data Modernization in State and Local Jurisdictions,” from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m., on Wednesday May 15, at the Regenstrief building and virtually.

Registrants from across the state of Indiana and nation are expected to attend the conference. Conference goals include collaborating to generate new ideas and sharing work on data modernization efforts.

Speakers will include:

  • Graham Briggs, M.S., state epidemiologist, Illinois Department of Public Health
  • Jennifer Zucker, MPH, epidemiology manager, Marion Country Public Health Department
  • Sarah Shaw, MPH, PMP, senior informatics analyst, Public Health Informatics Institute (Georgia), The Task for Global Health
  • Theresa Cullen, M.D., public health director, Pima County (Arizona) Health Department

Submit an abstract or work in progress

Conference attendees are also encouraged to submit an abstract detailing work on data modernization advancements at local levels for scheduled breakout sessions. Abstracts can be up to 250 words.

Local health departments attending the conference are also encouraged to submit “Works-In-Progress” of modernization efforts or data challenges, with the goal of generating conversation, sharing ideas and gaining feedback from others in public health. Presentations will be approximately 20 minutes with up to 25 minutes for discussion.

Other public health organizations are welcome to apply, but topics should emphasize applied public health challenges and solutions.

Due to last year’s conference having such a high demand for registration, a virtual option is also included in the registration process. This will allow national collaborators a similar route to share their work.
