Kathleen Unroe, M.D., MHA, M.S., was interviewed by McKnights Long Term Care News about the novel adaptation of a commonly used symptom assessment instrument to more comprehensively acquire difficult-to-obtain symptom data, such as pain and anxiety, for cognitively impaired nursing home residents with the ultimate goal of enabling knowledge-based expansion of palliative care services in nursing homes to address residents’ symptoms.
