Center for Cancer Population Analytics and Patient-Centered Informatics earns Signature Center status

Following three successful years of formative work, the Center for Cancer Population Analytics and Patient-Centered Informatics has been named an IUPUI Signature Center. Led by Indiana University Associate Professor of Medicine and Regenstrief Research Scientist David Haggstrom, MD, MAS, the center’s scientific core – representing productive collaborations with the IU Schools of Medicine, Informatics and Computing, Nursing, Public Health, and more – have conducted critical work in assembling and validating cancer population data, developing and testing an electronic, multi-dimensional patient-reported outcome platform, and developmental evaluation and feasibility testing of a personal health record for colon cancer survivors.

The highly-valued Signature Center designation from the IUPUI Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research recognizes this center’s potential to produce leaders and to create a sustainable research environment through which multidisciplinary scientific teams can perform top-tier national cancer health services research to improve the quality, efficiency, coordination, and outcomes of cancer care across the continuum of the patient experience.

The Signature Centers Initiative from the IUPUI Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research was designed to foster emergent research centers that are uniquely identifiable with IUPUI, and lead the way in world-class research and creative activities that substantially enhance IUPUI’s reputation nationally and internationally. Funding partners for the Cancer Population Analytics and Patient-Centered Informatics, include the IUPUI OVCR, the Indiana University School of Medicine, Regenstrief Institute, Inc. and the Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center.
