Regenstrief podcast The Problem returns, new season highlights Alzheimer’s and dementia

The Problem season 2

Regenstrief Institute’s podcast, The Problem, returned November 7, 2019 for its second season. This season focuses on a growing health crisis that affects tens of millions of Americans: Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.

Episodes will explore life with Alzheimer’s from perspectives of the patient, the caregiver, the community, health systems and more. Experts in Alzheimer’s treatment and care will delve into screening and diagnostic procedures and discuss potential ways to reduce risks early in life.

The season will include interviews with leaders from CICOA Aging and In-Home Solutions, Dementia Friends Indiana, the Indiana Alzheimer Disease Center, the Greater Indiana Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, community organizers, along with several conversations with Regenstrief scientists whose work strives to better the world for those with Alzheimer’s, as well as their caregivers.

The Problem is an anthological podcast designed to help anyone interested in healthcare become more informed about complex topics. In each season, a different significant healthcare issue is highlighted, and each episode within the season examines the issue from a different perspective.

In its first season, The Problem examined the opioid crisis. Episodes featured interviews with experts such as Darshan Shah, Indiana’s chief data officer, and Jim McClelland, Indiana’s executive director for drug prevention, treatment and enforcement, alongside conversations with Regenstrief scientists participating in the IU Grand Challenge on Addiction.

Episodes will be released every other week, starting on November 7. Go to theproblem.regenstrief.org, on Spotify, iTunes, or your podcast app of choice.
