Moving healthcare innovations from promising ideas to real-world impact requires collaboration between researchers, entrepreneurs, healthcare organizations and industry partners.
That collaborative approach brought Regenstrief Institute’s Office of Strategic Innovation (OSI) to the recent IU Labs Life Tech Accelerator, where Paul Biondich, M.D., M.S., was invited to speak with startup founders and researchers participating in the program.
Hosted by IU Labs, the Life Tech Accelerator helps researchers and entrepreneurs develop ideas into viable businesses through mentorship, education and industry partnerships. Throughout the program, founders met with organizations including Lilly’s Catalyze360 team, IU Health, BioCrossroads, TechPoint and Regenstrief to learn from experts, refine their ideas and build new connections.
During the session, Biondich shared Regenstrief’s history of improving health through research and innovation and discussed how OSI helps connect external partners with the Institute’s expertise.
As startup teams presented their technologies and the healthcare challenges they hope to address, Biondich identified opportunities where collaboration with Regenstrief could help advance their work. Following the discussions, he connected startup leaders with Regenstrief investigators and team members whose expertise aligned with their needs.
“It’s exciting to see the campus be supportive of that startup culture,” Biondich said. “And it’s even more exciting to look for opportunities for Regenstrief team members to work alongside some of these startups where it makes sense.”
The event reflects the growing relationship between Regenstrief and IU Labs as both organizations work to build partnerships that accelerate healthcare innovation and improve health.
