TechPoint has announced Regenstrief Institute and the Indiana Health Information Exchange (IHIE) — the Indiana Pandemic Information Collaborative (IPIC) and the Regenstrief COVID-19 Dashboard as nominees for the 2021 Mira Awards. The awards recognize the best tech in Indiana.
IPIC and the COVID-19 Dashboard are in the category of “Pandemic Pivot of the Year,” which highlights the innovative ways Indiana companies and organizations have responded to the challenge of the pandemic.
Peter Embí, M.D., M.S., is the president and chief executive officer of Regenstrief. John P. Kansky, is the president and CEO of IHIE.
IPIC consists of more than 70 members from government, health systems, universities, bioscience companies and nonprofits across the state with a common mission of addressing the COVID-19 pandemic using data. The partners leverage their assets and skills to eliminate redundancies and accelerate response to the pandemic. The collaborative is led by Dr. Embí.
The dashboard was created to provide accurate and up-to-date information on how COVID-19 is impacting Indiana. It takes extensive data from the Indiana Network for Patient Care, managed by IHIE, and displays it in an easy-to-understand way. Information includes COVID-19-related emergency department visits, number and duration of hospital stays, comorbidities (such as heart disease or diabetes) and clearly highlights data trends. The information is complementary to that presented on the Indiana Department of Health website.
IPIC and the dashboard are one of more than 120 nominees across 13 categories. The awards ceremony will be held virtually on April 22, 2021.
