LOINC, a global healthcare terminology standard, will be the focus of the four-day conference where experts from around the world will collaborate and share insights through presentations spanning three main areas: 1) implementation and policy, 2) innovation and 3) mapping. The conference will bring together a diverse range of international organizations that use LOINC and are united by a broader commitment to achieving semantic interoperability through health data standards.

Each day will feature a dedicated theme, which will guide the sessions and discussions each day. They are:

  • Tuesday, Oct. 7 – Pre-Conference LOINC Education and Training
  • Wednesday, Oct. 8 – Success Stories
  • Thursday, Oct. 9 – Issues, Risks and Opportunities
  • Friday, Oct. 10 – Health-Related Social Needs

The conference will feature a keynote address from Michael Green, president and chief executive officer of Canada Health Infoway. Under his leadership since 2014, Green has championed national efforts to expand digital health solutions and improve access to health data and services throughout Canada. His keynote will offer insights into the future of interoperable health systems and policy innovation.

All sessions will be recorded and made available to registered attendees within two weeks following the conclusion of the event. A full catalog of community presentations is available to registered participants in the 2025 LOINC Conference Presentation Catalogue.

About LOINC®
LOINC®was created in 1994 at Regenstrief Institute to facilitate interoperability in healthcare. There was a growing trend to send clinical data electronically between healthcare entities, a practice that has now become ubiquitous. Today, it contains more than 108,000 concepts for everything from an albumin level to a zygomatic arch X-ray report. For each concept, LOINC contains many other rich details, such as synonyms, units of measure and carefully crafted descriptions.
