The NCCN Guidelines for Colorectal Cancer (CRC) Screening provide evidence-based recommendations for screening individuals at average or increased risk of sporadic CRC, excluding those with known genetic syndromes. These guidelines assist clinicians in selecting appropriate screening modalities and schedules.

Recent updates emphasize both primary and secondary CRC prevention, with a notable focus on the age to begin screening. A key change includes new guidance for individuals with a personal history of childhood, adolescent, or young adult (CAYA) cancer, who are at elevated risk due to prior treatments like chemotherapy or radiation. The updated recommendations suggest tailored screening initiation ages for this group to improve early detection and outcomes.

Overall, the guidelines promote a more personalized approach to CRC screening, supporting risk-based decision-making to enhance prevention and reduce CRC-related morbidity and mortality.
