In every organization, there are (hopefully many) people who work tirelessly to keep things moving forward. Often, these efforts go largely uncongratulated. It is a point of great pride that Regenstrief Institute takes care to extend recognition and honor to such individuals. I am of the opinion that workplace culture and operations are an essential portion of the success of our institute’s endeavors. As such, I nominate Christina Baucco for her ever-reliable contribution to various IUCAR teams. As a Research Coordinator, she stands to uplift her coworkers in their daily efforts and also to serve the complicated requirements of many projects by working closely with Principal Investigators. She inhabits both crucial spaces of informal and formal leadership with finesse, which should be recognized as an oft-difficult path to navigate gracefully. Ms. Baucco cultivates an environment of both acceptance and achievement due in no small part to her extensive emotional intelligence and dedication. These gifts and skills are undoubtedly a significant asset to IUCAR and Regenstrief. Although day-to-day work may be seen as “only” a rippling effect on our Regenstrief missions and values, my perspective is that those who repeatedly strengthen the scaffolding of an organization make such larger missions possible. Christina is an exemplary part of our institute and we are lucky to have her!
