Emily Fox Ludden has expanded her skillset and responsibilities since I first started working with her 3-4 years ago. She has been assisting me with a couple of projects on which her problem-solving skills have been a huge asset. For example, one project that is highly complex, we are working with Medicare data paired with Health and Retirement Study Data. Despite little previous knowledge of this, she dove in to figuring out enough about the data to support our work. She participated in two different free instructional workshops on using our dataset. Most importantly, we recently had to transition to the LINKAGE platform to access our dataset. This has not been without several bumps in the road. Emily had reliably and consistently supported me in pushing through the many forms required for our project. When other team members have needed help accessing LINKAGE she is always ready to help them and if she doesn’t know the answer right away, I know she will seek it out. She is equally helpful to faculty colleagues and staff working on projects together. When our initial project results indicated a large difference in how Black patients were receiving care from White patients, she has worked closely with me in confirming our results and searching the literature for similar findings. I cannot say enough about Emily’s drive to support production of solid, groundbreaking science and results through her drive for excellence, fastidious problem solving, exceptional teamwork, and quiet but powerful leadership. She is truly an outstanding member of our staff and I believe embodies the characteristics of an ideal One Regenstrief Award recipient. Please do not hesitate to reach out if questions.
