Joan Showalter

As the director of center operations in IUCAR, Joan works hard to develop a culture of connection, learning and cross-team collaboration. She is warm and easy to talk to while also being a strong leader. Joan is an amazing advocate for staff and always gives us opportunities to share our feedback. I can trust that Joan has the best interests of the staff in mind when she makes decisions. Even though she is not a researcher herself, she is hugely supportive of our work and shows interest in what each team is doing. Joan’s leadership of IUCAR is a wonderful asset to the Institute as a whole. Her support and advocacy are big parts of what makes IUCAR a great place to work.
