I am nominating NiCole Keith, PhD, for the One Regenstrief Award for her exceptional leadership and critical contributions to our organization related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. During a time period of significant unrest and turmoil in our country, she was a calming and reassuring force that helped us come together as a community during a very difficult time. Her leadership was demonstrated in her skillful, sensitive facilitation of a RI Town Hall following the national outrage over the death of George Floyd in Minnesota and in her commitment to serve as Co-Chair of the Regenstrief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council. I am particularly impressed with Dr. Keith’s respectful and thoughtful approach to any and every question she receives, no matter how in-artfully worded. She radiates acceptance and is able to meet people where they are at while gently challenging them to grow. Dr. Keith’s willingness to assume a leadership role has enabled us to create a positive, welcoming culture that embraces open dialogue, trust, and meaningful engagement in one of the most critical issues of our time. We are fortunate to have Dr. Keith as part of Regenstrief.
