My research seeks to identify and mitigate barriers to equitable access to high-quality, lower-cost healthcare services.

Dr. Drewry is a health economist and health services researcher, and serves as an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Transplantation at the Indiana University School of Medicine with a dual appointment as a Research Scientist in the Center for Health Services Research at the Regenstrief Institute.

Dr. Drewry’s research focuses on evaluating the impact of healthcare financing and organization on equity in access to high-value healthcare, especially for patients with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.

Dr. Drewry received her doctoral degree in Health Services Research and Health Policy from Emory University’s Rollins School of Public health, and her Master of Arts in Bioethics from the Emory University Center for Ethics.

Impact of Randomized Payment Incentives on Disparities in Home Dialysis and Kidney Transplantation

In conjunction with Drs. Rachel Patzer, Amal Trivedi and research teams at Emory and Brown University, this project aims to evaluate the impact of Medicare’s largest randomized controlled trial of an alternative payment model on inequities in treatment and health outcomes for patients with kidney failure.

Impact of Alternative Payment Models on Specialist Care for Patients with New-Onset End-Stage Renal Disease

This project evaluated structural characteristics associated with voluntary provider participation in Medicare’s Comprehensive ESRD Care (CEC) Initiative and the impacts of CEC participation on providers’ treatment patterns for individuals with new-onset kidney failure.
