Peter Embí, M.D., M.S., president and CEO of the Regenstrief Institute, Inc., will leave the institute in December to assume the position of chair of Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Department of Biomedical Informatics. He also will serve as senior vice president for research and innovation, a newly created position. He will join the Vanderbilt faculty on January 1, 2022.
During Dr. Embí’s five years at Regenstrief, he has grown the institute’s faculty, overseeing a 50 percent increase in funded research and, in collaboration with long-time partners and new collaborators, expanded the institute’s local, national and international impact in health and healthcare. In 2019-2020, Regenstrief celebrated 50 years of groundbreaking research and plans were laid for the future.
In addition to his position at Regenstrief Institute, Dr. Embí is the Leonard Betley Professor of Medicine and serves as the associate dean for informatics and health services research at the IU School of Medicine; associate director of informatics at the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute and as vice president for learning health systems at IU Health.
