Transcript:

There are advantages for people who are using SNOMED, and there are advantages for people who are using LOINC. For the people who by law or by regulation or other things have to use SNOMED within their country, this agreement will make it so that they can use LOINC within their country because there will be SNOMED codes that correspond to the LOINC codes. On the other side with people who are using LOINC, one of the criticisms has been that LOINC doesn’t have a computable ontology, and we’ll create a computable ontology under the new agreement.
