Anna Higbie

Anna demonstrates wonderful leadership skills as she takes part in many research projects across IUCAR. She is great at time management and communication across projects and teams, and she effectively conveys what she is capable of accomplishing as well as what her boundaries are. As staff members, we appreciate her consideration and transparency. Anna is also very adaptable, as she quickly took on a leadership position on the 5-Cog team and is openly communicative. Anna also encourages the ideas and ambitions of staff members. She provides opportunities for staff to work across projects in order to improve or gain new skills. Anna also upholds kindness and a lifelong learning mindset in the work environment. She prioritizes the needs of her colleagues, especially as issues arise, and aims to address them in a kind and professional manner. For example, she maintains the purple flag culture on the Fowler team, which allows team members to call in problematic behavior or words said between us so that we can learn from those experiences and not feel ashamed. I am very grateful to have her as one of my supervisors.
