Health for all has been a core value of the Regenstrief Institute since its inception. Sam Regenstrief was devoted to improving access to and delivery of healthcare for all people—a mission the Institute carries on today.

Today, Regenstrief is uniquely positioned to improve healthcare for marginalized groups by understanding where and why inequities exist. As honest data broker for one of the oldest and largest health data exchanges in the country, our research scientists have invaluable tools to identify disparities in communities and healthcare systems. They work with experienced healthcare researchers to discern the causes of disparities and develop, test and implement real-world solutions.

Going beyond just documenting disparities

Regenstrief Research Scientist Greg A. Sachs, M.D., describes the effectiveness of his IN-PEACE study intervention in minoritized populations, which he believes is easily implementable beyond Indiana. “We provided cutting-edge, state-of-the-art dementia care with a palliative care component and gave access to people who don’t have resources and wouldn’t normally get this kind of care, and it had a dramatic impact.”
