Seho Park, PhD

  • Research Scientist, Center for Biomedical Informatics, Regenstrief Institute
  • Assistant Research Professor of Biostatistics and Health Data Sciences, Indiana University School of Medicine

Dr. Park focuses on data integration that investigates how to combine multiple sources of information and use that data more efficiently. Based on her background in missing data analysis and survey sampling, her research centers on developing a novel statistical methodology for data integration that leverages the advantages of all data sources and is applicable to real world problems. Dr. Park is also interested in addressing social determinants of health and health disparities utilizing electronic health records using novel statistical methods.

Dr. Park received her PhD in statistics from Iowa State University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice.

Current Research Projects

Leveraging Electronic Health Data to Assess the Burden of Diabetes Among Young Adults
(NCCDPHP, PI: Dixon & Mendonca) (2020-2025)
This project will leverage electronic health data from multiple HER systems and clinical providers to better estimate incidence and prevalence of diabetes among young adults.

Improving Healthcare Processes and Outcomes by Directly Integrating Health Information Exchange Data in the Clinical Workflow
(AHRQ, PI: Schleyer) (2020-2023)
The objective of our project is to evaluate a novel application called CareView  that seamlessly integrates highly relevant information from the HIE directly with the EHR in the emergency department (ED). Our central hypothesis is that this HIE/EHR integration will increase HIE information use and improve care delivery, patient outcomes, and clinician satisfaction and efficiency compared to current methods of accessing HIE data. Translational Science Initiative at the Indiana University School of Medicine
(Lily Endowment, PI: Mendonca) (2019-2024)
The goal of the Physician Scientist Initiative is to improve Indiana’s position as one of the nation’s top life science research hubs by funding an innovative recruitment strategy designed to attract top scientists to Indiana University School of Medicine and the state. Role: Co-Investigator

The Caregiver Outcomes of Alzheimer’s Disease Screening (COADS) Trial
(NIA, PI: Fowler) (2018-2023)
We are proposing the first study to measure the benefits and harms of AD screening on family members of older adults and to measure how the risks and benefits vary between patients and their family members. Role: Co-Investigator

Decisions About Cancer Screening in Alzheimer’s Disease
(NIA, PI: Fowler) (2017-2022)
We propose to conduct a randomized controlled trial, the Decisions About Cancer Screening in Alzheimer’s Disease (DECAD) Study, to test if this decision aid can support AD caregivers and patients in making decisions about breast cancer screening by improving markers of decision quality. Role: Co-Investigator
